Our philosophy

Health apps shouldn't
work against you.

We tried the other apps. The fifteen-screen questionnaire before you can log a single reading. The fake "building your personalized plan…" progress bar. The paywall on day one. The upgrade popup every third tap. The free tier that stops working the moment you actually start using it.

MED Diary is our answer: a tracker whose free version is genuinely excellent, whose paid version is honestly worth it, and which treats the person recording their own blood pressure with the respect that moment deserves. Here is what we promise — in writing, so you can hold us to it.

Nine promises

What we will — and won't — do

Core tracking is free. Forever.

Blood pressure, glucose, weight, A1C, activity, and meals include unlimited entries, history, and charts. Free also includes up to three current medications (active or paused) with daily or selected-day schedules, reminders, a daily checklist, and the Pharmacy Order calculator, plus up to three upcoming appointments with reminders. From the Medication report/share sheet, the calculator turns schedules into quantities for 7, 30, 60, 90, or a custom number of days. Existing medication and appointment history stays visible. No "your first 30 readings," and no locking your own history behind a paywall. Your engagement is never punished.

No nagging. Ever.

No popup at launch. No interruption while you're entering a reading — that moment is sacred. Premium features wear a small crown where they naturally live; that's the whole pitch. Promotional reminders appear at most once a week and can be dismissed forever. A factual notice may still appear at the feature where a free allowance is low or spent. If you can predict "opening the app = closing a popup," we've failed.

Thirty seconds to your first reading.

No questionnaire wall. No fake progress bar pretending to build your plan. No account required for core tracking. Open the app, log a reading, done. We ask questions only at the moment they matter, like your glucose unit the first time you log glucose. Shared Access is the one account-backed feature, using Sign in with Apple so an invitation reaches the intended caregiver.

No ads. No data sale. No exceptions.

Your health data is not our product, and there is no advertising in MED Diary — not in the free version, not anywhere. We make money one way: a subscription some people choose because it's worth it.

Your data is yours — and it can leave.

A complete raw export of your persisted diary is free for every user, always — every primary and family profile, its clinical records, profile details, goals and settings, connected-device metadata, and stored files. Reading from and writing to Apple Health is free too. So are every widget and alternate app icon, plus viewing your latest vitals and logging new readings in the Apple Watch app. An app that holds your own health history or Apple's built-in capabilities hostage doesn't deserve them.

Privacy first, by architecture.

Your primary diary lives on your device and syncs through your own iCloud. A live lab extraction sends only the PDF you approve after an on-device privacy review and any redactions; a live meal estimate sends the description and optional photo you submit. Both travel through the MED Diary server to OpenAI for that request. Optional Shared Access stores and relays end-to-end encrypted health records that our service cannot read, along with the account and operational metadata described in our Privacy Policy. We do not keep a readable server-side copy of your diary.

Caregiver sharing we cannot read.

When you share readings with a relative or caregiver, the data is end-to-end encrypted on your phone, and the key travels inside the invite you hand them — never to us. Our server stores and relays sealed envelopes it cannot open. Blind to content, by design.

A fair line between free and paid.

Recording core vitals and meals, viewing existing history, and plain-text Share/Copy from your real diary are free. Premium expands active planning with unlimited current medications and upcoming appointments, cycle and as-needed medication schedules, and aggregate adherence insights. It also adds ongoing AI, direct Bluetooth, unlimited formatted doctor-ready reports and comparisons, creating or expanding encrypted caregiver sharing, and family profiles — never a fee to read your own history or use Apple's built-in capabilities.

Cancelling is safe.

If you subscribe and later cancel, you lose nothing you made. Every reading, every medication, every synced entry stays visible and yours. New Premium actions pause; your history never does. An existing caregiver share keeps receiving updates until you narrow or revoke it, but creating, expanding, or restarting a share again requires Premium.

Free & Premium

Honest economics

Live AI scans and meal estimates use powerful models that cost us real money, so ongoing use is part of Premium. The built-in demo uses local sample results instead, and you don't have to take our word for how good the live features are.

Explore without risk

A built-in demo profile lets you explore Premium workflows with rich sample data — review a bundled lab extraction, build a doctor report, and create sample family profiles. It uses bundled inputs and canned results on your device, without a server request or a free credit. After about 24 hours MED Diary offers to refresh the Alex sample; if you added eligible manual readings, it first lets you move them to your primary profile or postpone. Sample family profiles are memory-only and do not survive relaunch or a Demo refresh. External Share/Copy from Demo stays sealed unless your real account has Premium.

Free tastes, full quality

Your first lab report scan, first five meal estimates, first three formatted vital-report shares, first three formatted medication-report shares, and first three report comparisons are free — full-fidelity outputs, nothing blurred or held back. Plain-text Share/Copy from your real diary is always free and never consumes those formatted-report allowances. When a free use is spent, we tell you quietly. That's it.

One subscription, everything

No feature à la carte, no add-on packs, no tiers-of-tiers. One Premium unlocks all of it. Eligible customers choosing the annual plan can receive a 7-day free trial, offered only when you open the paywall — never pushed at you.

What Premium includes: unlimited AI lab report scans and meal nutrition estimates · MED Diary's direct Bluetooth sync for supported meters, cuffs & scales · unlimited current medications, upcoming appointments, cycle and as-needed schedules, and aggregate adherence insights · unlimited formatted doctor-ready report sharing and comparisons · creating, expanding, and restarting Shared Access for a caregiver · up to five family profiles.

FAQ

Fair questions, straight answers

Is the free version actually usable, or is it a demo?

It's a complete tracker, and it stays one. Unlimited blood pressure, glucose, weight, and A1C logging with full history and charts, activity, meal logging, up to three current medications (active or paused) with simple schedules, reminders, and a daily checklist, the Pharmacy Order calculator for 7, 30, 60, 90, or a custom number of days, and up to three upcoming appointments with reminders. Apple Health import and export, every widget and alternate app icon, the Apple Watch app for viewing latest vitals and logging new readings, plain-text Share/Copy from your real diary, and the complete raw export are free too. Many people will never need more — that's fine with us.

Will you constantly push me to subscribe?

No. There are no launch popups, no countdown banners, and nothing ever interrupts you while entering a reading. Premium features are marked with a small crown where they naturally appear, there's one quiet Premium row in Settings, and the rare contextual suggestion is capped at once a week and dismissible forever. We'd rather earn the upgrade than extract it.

Why isn't there a big onboarding questionnaire?

Because it exists to build sunk-cost pressure, not to help you. The apps that ask fifteen questions and then show a fake "building your plan…" spinner are warming you up for the paywall on the next screen. MED Diary gets you to your first logged reading in about thirty seconds and asks questions only when they're actually needed.

Are there ads? Do you sell my data?

No ads, anywhere, at any tier. We do not sell your health data or share it for advertising or "anonymized partnering." Your primary diary lives on your device and in your own iCloud. Optional Shared Access puts end-to-end encrypted health records on our relay, where we cannot read their contents, and keeps the account and operational metadata disclosed in our Privacy Policy.

Do I need an account?

No. MED Diary works fully without one — no email, no password, no marketing list. The only exception: sharing with a caregiver uses Sign in with Apple, because relaying invitations securely requires knowing who's inviting whom.

Where is my data stored, and can you read it?

Your primary diary lives on your device and syncs through your personal iCloud. For live AI, an approved lab PDF or the meal description and optional photo you submit travel through the MED Diary server to OpenAI. With optional caregiver sharing, our server stores and relays end-to-end encrypted records it cannot open, plus the account and operational metadata needed to run the service; the key travels in the invite you hand your caregiver, never to us.

Can I export my data?

Yes — a complete raw export, free for every user, in Settings. It includes CSV records for your primary and family profiles, profile and body details, goals, settings, family registry, connected-device metadata, and all clinical histories, plus stored lab documents, medication photos, appointment attachments, and custom profile-avatar images. Demo sample content and device security credentials are intentionally excluded. Reading from and writing to Apple Health is also free. Plain-text Share/Copy from your real diary is free and does not use a formatted-report allowance. Formatted, doctor-ready reports have separate lifetime free allowances of three vital shares and three medication shares before Premium is required; your underlying data never is.

Why is the AI part paid?

Outside the built-in demo, each live lab report scan and meal estimate runs on powerful AI models that charge us per use. The demo's bundled inputs and sample results stay local and consume no credits. Apps that offer "unlimited free AI" are paying for it somehow — usually with your data or your attention. We'd rather charge honestly. You still get free live uses to judge the quality yourself, at full fidelity.

How can I try Premium before paying?

Three ways, no commitment: the built-in demo profile lets you explore Premium workflows with rich sample data and local canned AI results; your free lab scan and meal estimates work on your own data; and eligible customers can receive a 7-day free trial with the annual plan. The App Store shows your exact eligibility and localized price before you confirm, and the trial is offered only when you open the paywall yourself.

What does Premium cost?

Premium is currently US $4.99 per month or US $34.99 per year. Prices, currency, tax, and trial eligibility are controlled by the App Store and may vary by country. The purchase screen always shows the amount that applies to you before you subscribe.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

You keep everything already in your diary and can export the complete raw archive. New Premium actions — such as live AI uses after free credits, direct Bluetooth sync, and new formatted reports after free allowances — pause until you return. Existing Shared Access continues publishing to current caregivers; you can narrow or revoke a share for free, while creating, expanding, or restarting one requires Premium. Apple Health, widgets, viewing your latest vitals and logging new readings in the Apple Watch app, and alternate icons stay available. Cancelling is a pause, never a punishment.

Does my caregiver have to pay too?

Never. Sharing is part of your Premium; the person you share with uses the free MED Diary Care companion app on iPhone at no cost. One subscription covers the relationship.

Can I hide the features I don't use?

Yes — and they stay hidden. Turn off appointments, labs, medications, or meals and MED Diary becomes a clean vitals tracker; we will never re-surface a module you hid or nag you about it. Hidden modules wait quietly in Settings in case you ever want them back.
